Trim Wheel (With Control Loading)

Open CaptainBobSim opened this issue 1 year ago • 0 comments

Design Issues:

  • [x] Use same .25 rod for throttle and trim axis
  • [x] Able to use a genuine trim wheel (kinda readily available)
  • [x] Put pot Coupler on a square
  • [x] Put screws in the corners or an internal mounting system (blah)
  • [x] Make it so that you can mount it nicely into a panel
  • [x] Logic-ize the side cutouts
  • [x] This is waaay weak. Just looking at this breaks it. [TEST]
  • [ ] Change Acrylic from 3mm to 6mm. [Also change below panel]
  • [ ] Make a mini version so people can just wack it in their panel and call it good.
  • [x] Takeoff trim is not centered!
  • [ ] It should look like this: https://youtu.be/WhQ8Ai4fa_Q?t=318
  • [ ] Remove stepper fillet
  • [ ] stepper motor driver correct steps research datasheet
  • [ ] can you use stepper as input?
  • [ ] Wheel slot is too tiny
  • [ ] Thicken Pin
  • [ ] Center control wheel
  • [ ] Limit how long the Coupler is to not carry a moment.

Prototype Issues:

  • [ ] Engrave version of decals
  • [ ] Decals
  • [ ]

Publishing Tasks:

  • [ ] Add a DRAWING PDF (optional)
  • [ ] Make a Cut/Engrave SVG
  • [ ] Rotate all STLs using MeshMixer for easy printability (no slicer rotate)
  • [ ] Attach .STEP and .f3d
  • [ ] MobiFlight .mcc file and .mfmcfile
  • [ ] Mounting Template .DXF
  • [ ] Add Wiring diagram PNG
  • [ ] Put fritzing in source
  • [ ] Write the ReadMe
    • [ ] Video Here
    • [ ] Buy it as a Kit
    • [ ] Buy it assembled
  • [ ] Partslist on ReadMe
  • [x] Woops image

The trim wheel is used to alleviate control pressure for the pilots.

The trim wheel is mostly designed but could use some tweaks to complete "static model" (no motor).

The initial version can be static, but Revision 2 (eventually) should be force feedback/Control Loading.

The trim wheel will use a 10-turn potentiometer to sense its position (it will only use 9 turns, potentially using a software stop at the ends)

ELECTRIC TRIM IS ~15RPM

The trim wheel can use DC motors and a speed reducing gear mechanism

Use low torque motors - the motors with gearboxes usually are unreasonably high torque. Low torque makes sure the motor doesn't break the potentiometer in a "runaway motor" situation.

When the trim wheel is not moving (motors off) it should be easily movable

Trim wheel should use slip type clutch to promote motorization #118

Electric Trim maximum operating speed - 163 KIAS.
