[BUG] - Android Auto album/artist name

Describe the bug

Album name and/or artist name not showing on player. May or may not be a bug, apologies if it is purposeful

Expected behavior

Underneath the song name, album and/or artist name also appears

Environment

• Android device: Pixel 7 Pro
• Android OS version: GrapheneOS / AOSP 14
• App version: 3.6.0

Usually the artist name is shown between the song name and the playtime

I'm not sure how to answer this question. Android Auto has all the information, both on the album and the artist, and reading around it seems to be Google's decision not to show anything.

And reading a little on the web it seems that I'm neither the first nor the last to have this problem. The hypothesis that circulates most seems to be that of a deliberate choice by Google to reduce the amount of information on the screen.

DSub can display both the title and the artist name just fine in Android Auto.

No clue if it uses a workaround.

We're not done here yet.

I managed to show the album name, but as soon as a new track is chosen from the Android Auto interface the subtitle disappears.

Currently, Tempo doesn't show either the artist's name or the album art for me (I have seen there was another issue regarding album art), while Ultrasonic doesn't have a problem doing both. Maybe you could find the solution to this problem in their code?

I was checking if my issue was already reported and found this. The album covers aren't showing on my android auto, also the artist name (only track name and duration is displayed)

Is there anything I need to do to fix this ? permissions or something ?

I noticed something strange yesterday, I use tailscale to connect my phone to my navidrome server when I'm away, yesterday I was in the car in front of my house on WiFi with the VPN active allowing local LAN access, and I had the album images on android auto, and as soon as I went away, the images stopped showing when it switched to the next song. Not sure what the cause of that.

Edit, tried this again today and it didn't work, so maybe it "accidentally" worked yesterday. Or maybe the other explanation is that Tempo can stream the embedded images from flac files to AA, but not from mp3 ?
