I have the same question.
Dunno; it doesn't seem to look as good as it used to.
Here's what I get with the current versions. The footnote marks definitely seem bigger than in the picture you posted.

Is this planned? It's frustrating not to be able to change the background color.

Do you have "Enhance Default Paste" on?
