Scrolling issue on when using Edge Browser on Mac OS 26
Describe the bug | 问题描述 Scrolling works fine on other browsers, but when I use Edge Browser it becomes very laggy. Each time I scroll, it stutters a few times, almost like dropping FPS in a video game. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Edge, it was smooth for a while but then started lagging again. I also uninstalled and reinstalled Mos, but the issue still persists.

same issue for me
我想这也许更多是Edge浏览器的问题,因为在使用触控板的时候一样会遇到此问题。当然关闭Mos时使用触控板会好点,但依然会卡顿。在Safari和Chrome遇到此问题的几率比较低。
brave the same, and its a chrome based browser.. Mos was working perfectly in prev Mac OS versions, has an issue with Tahoe though.
~~its not that it doesnt work, i see an improvement when its enabled, but its still way, way worse compared with previous versions of Mac OS~~ this was misguided, its even worse with MOS enabled
Same on Brave
Encountered on Chrome
Same laggy issue on Notion and the default macos Calender app as well.
yeah, i guess its a fundamental issue with Tahoe. maybe they changed some interface or whatever
I just turned off smooth scrolling in the Mos settings and it fixed it. It seems like Macos 26 might have added smooth scrolling to mice natively. Can anyone else test this?
i tried that too.. it kinda works for a bit but not entirely. its very rough scrolling indeed. might be mouse dependent though. i have a Logitech G903
but after some testing, i still keep MOS disabled until there might be a fix, because without it, regardless how bad it is, its currently better than with MOS enabled.
Same issue!
The issue is likely due to the Chromium engine enabling smooth scrolling by default after a recent update. I'm using macOS 15.7.1 (Sequoia) and experiencing the same problem. If you open a website in Safari with MOS turned off, you'll notice there's no smooth scrolling. However, on MS Edge Version 141.0.3537.57 (Official build) (arm64), smooth scrolling is enabled (though not as smooth as MOS). It feels odd having both enabled, so I've added an exception in MOS to disable smooth scrolling when using MS Edge. Unfortunately, there’s no option or flag available in MS Edge settings to turn off smooth scrolling.
PSA: macOS 26 bug leads to performance issues in many apps (with fix)
It seems that a bug in macOS 26 is causing performance issues when rendering window shadows for all Electron / Chromium-based applications. You can use the following temporary workaround to alleviate the problem:
- Open Terminal on macOS 26.
- Execute the command:
launchctl setenv CHROME_HEADLESS 1 - Restart the affected application.
- This command disables window shadows for these applications, which in turn resolves the excessive GPU usage. Note: This setting must be re-run after every system reboot.
