Plugin slows editor to a crawl

I have this plugin for one reason, and it works well for it: To make covers clickable/linkable.

But when writing a new post in the block editor, everything is slowed to a crawl. I type a sentence, and then watch it finish onscreen letter by letter for a few seconds. I also see little h2/h3/etc tags behind elements, but that’s merely irritating, not important.

The problem disappears when I deactivate the plugin, but then the covers on my home page are not clickable anymore (too bad the established links don’t stick around). At the moment, I deactivate while writing a post, but that won’t be acceptable anymore once I get some visitors to my site.

I almost can’t imagine a plugin conflict since I have almost no plugins except for this one, Yoast, Siteground Optimizer, and ContactForm 7.

Is this a known issue? Is there a fix?

Thanks and have a nice day.

@muneebahmed0346 this is the last response from the user.

Another problem with the block editor crawling. Kadence Theme with Pro Extensions, WordPress 5.8.2

After selectively deactivating and reactivating plugins I found what appears to be a conflict between EditorsKit and Real Media Library.

When both of those plugins are activated, the editor crawls. When I deactivate either one of them, the editor works normally.

I haven’t tried selectively disabling components of EditorsKit

Test the plugin with this plugin to see if impacts editor performance.

Now we see a massive performance drain when using editorskit, too. Tested on WP 5.9.3 on local and staging environments and with only default theme enabled. Even though this plugin provides great additions and functionality we cannot use it for production environments. Editing content is really a pain then. :/
