Blit failed

When I launch doom the screen is filled with this error:

Blit failed
Blit failed
Blit failed
Blit failed
...etc

I'm running this from an EFI shell spawned from rEFInd 0.14.2 boot manager.

Originally it was hanging on R_Init, and after building the latest version from master I'm now hitting this.

I did also try 3 different WAD files without finding any difference.
