PS2 Slim SCPH-77001 hates burned DVDs

So I burned a single layer Verbatim DVD-R and Maxell DVD+R with ImgBurnso I can use FreeDVDBoot to patch my ps2 with MechaPwn just so i can play japanese DDR Games. But 1 problem. for some reason. my ps2 slim cannot read burned DVDs. whenever it's a DVD movie. i even did the slowest writing speed for burning. 4x. and IT DOESN'T READ BURNED DVDs. it will read burned cds tho. but what's weird is it totally reads authentic DVD movies. (AKIRA 2 disc edition only works. some other don't work). So what can I do to my PS2 for it to read burned DVDs. I don't wanna replace the laser cuz I do not know how to solder. So is there any other solution. i really wanna play my imported games with MechaPwn. I even tried to clean the laser with alcohol and q tip. NOT WORKING: THE DISC COULD NOT BE READ! 60$ CAD is thrown out the garbage! That is a money saving move!
