PS2 2.12 fat boots fine with fdvdb but does not recognize that I have a usb mass device plugged in...

nor does it show any files when I navigate to the mass file area! I've tried formatting to mdb and fat32 with 32k cluster size and everything!!! Even switching usb ports many times using many combinations to plug it in. Trust me! I've spent 3 days trying to get my usb to be acknowledged by LauncherELF 4.2a that I burned just like the instructions stated! Im using a "16gb" (I think its only 14) PNY flash drive. Should I get a different brand? If so what kind?

also is there anyway I can just patch my game iso and burn it onto a dvd for a self boot architype? I did it with the gui but it only works for slims as you guys prob already know, but can I do it manually for my dvd 2.12?
