Use Case Description When determining a student’s final grade for a course, there are situations were a student’s final grade can be different from the final grade calculated for a particular course. In these situations, North Carolina stores both grades and need to run reports off both values. North Carolina is requesting additional CEDs elements to help capture information about the calculated final grade and the adjusted final grade for a course.
Use Case Background When determining a student’s final grade for a course, there are situations were a student’s final grade can be different from the final grade calculated for a particular course. In these situations, North Carolina stores both grades and need to run reports off both values. North Carolina is requesting additional CEDs elements to help capture information about the calculated final grade and the adjusted final grade for a course.
North Carolina currently collects the following final grade information for calculated and adjusted final grades. It should be noted that all stored grades are linked back to the course section and it’s start and end date.
o CALCULATED_GRADE – captures the value of the calculated grade o CALCULATED_PERCENT – captures value of the calculated percent o COMMENT_VALUE – captures any comment teacher added for this final grade o FINALGRADE_NAME – indicates Name assigned to this final grade. This might be the term abbreviation, such as S1. o GRADE – captures the letter grade assigned to this section for this student o IS_EXEMPT – indicates whether this assignment is exempt. Valid values: 1=Yes, 0=No. Defaults to 0. Required o IS_INCOMPLETE – indicates whether this assignment is incomplete. Valid values: 0=Complete, 1=Incomplete, Defaults to 0. Required o OVERRIDE – indicates if the final grade has been overridden o PERCENT – captures the percentage points that was received by the student for this section o POINTS – indicates the actual points student received for this section o POINTS_POSSIBLE – indicates the total points possible for this section o VARCREDIT – indicates if the teacher can assign variable credit to students in this particular course section. o DATE_STORED – captures the date the grade was stored.
