Laser Powerup Makes Beep

Picking up a base laser powerup makes the "chat message received" beep, for some pilots. (Contact: Merl, MD-1224)

Wasn't it laser boost pickup sound in D1 which was message beep? If thats the case then 1.4x3 fixed it, for me at least.

Works for me. I never was able to reproduce this one. I'd be happy to mark it, "Accidentally fixed unless someone tells me otherwise."

The only time I could see this happening is in single player when you are below one of the lower energy warning thresholds, and picking up the weapon bumps your energy up into another threshold, resulting in the higher energy warning message being displayed... but that's not the chat message received sound.

I'll get in touch with Merl, if he has time to check it out.

You know, I finally tripped over the issue when I was testing the autoselect code! And then when I made the change to ordering, it went away.

It may have been fixed accidentally. Regardless, the autoselect code is substantially different now.

Confirmed a bug in 1.4X4.

Change your autoselect order to:

Fusion Plasma Vulcan Spreadfire Lasers --Never Select Below-- Quad Lasers

Then, pick up quad lasers Then pick up normal lasers.

I believe it's trying to auto select the REGULAR laser level, but since that's not possible when you have the quad powerup, you get a beep.
