Allow editors to act on behalf of reviewers

Open clason opened this issue 2 years ago • 2 comments

Problem

Often, reviewers will respond to an editor's invitation simply by email without accepting the invitation via the episciences platform -- leading to expired invitations and problems submitting the report.

(Of course, the same reviewers are then likely to send the report by email as well, making it difficult to preserve the official record.)

And unlike for authors and editors, I as administrator cannot log into the reviewer's account to do this for them.

Solution

  1. Allow (chief) editors/administrators to log in as reviewers as well.

  2. Allow editors to manually set the status ("accepted", "declined", upload report sent directly via email) via the article handling page.

(1. is probably easier to implement, but might be problematic if the reviewing account is shared across journals.)

Dear Christian,

you are allow to log in as reviewers if they are an account of course and you can upload a review instead of the reviewer

Ah, thank you, I missed this because the button was not visible in the dropdown on the article page -- maybe you can add it there as well?
