Allow invited reviewers to review with an existing account, when the invitation email does not match their account email
When a reviewer is invited with an email address different than the one used by their account they have to create a new account with an address matching the invitation.
Same problem when a reviewer is invited with a temporary account, by mistake, when in fact they do have an account.
We need to allows reviewer to reuse their existing accounts even if the emails are different or if they are invited with a temporary account.
One possibility to discuss would be to allow more than one (validated) email per account, and allow users to review if the email of the invitation has been validated by them.
Thanks for adding an issue for this!

It is important that such a check is performed when the reviewer opens the invitation link and that it is not checked when the invitation mail is generated.
Currently, the inviting editors are still asked to check whether potential reviewers already have an account in the journal system or generally on Episciences.org. We would like to avoid that handling editors need to do the account management.
It might be worth mentioning that the ideal solution for us would be that if the invited reviewer can log in with a previously existing account (e.g. for a different e-mail address than the invitation e-mail), then the review invitation gets integrated into the existing account. This means that the connection between the review invitation and the potentially existing account is made only when the invited reviewer clicks in the invitation e-mail and is asked to log in.
Please have a look at lmcs submission #15661. The editor invited a reviewer with his current email address which is different from the one associated with his account. When the reviewer then logs in with his account the system says that 'this invitation is not intended for you'. It's simply annoying that editors should have to do the checking whether an account already exists or not, and they simply often do not do it but invite reviewers with their current email address.
In this particular case a problem was also that the email address of the reviewer stored in his account in the system is no longer working and needs to be updated to his new email address. So in addition to what Thorsten wrote, I would like to propose that the system asks which email address it should keep when integrating accounts: the existing one for the account, the new one from the invitation, or both.
