Improve documentation

The documentation at one point was fairly decent, but over time some more recent changes haven't been properly reflected in the "documentation". Also, it would be better for there to be real documentation rather than just a well commented example in the stack0 example's Build.mk file. I'm not sure how I'd like to structure the documentation, perhaps as markdown files?
