Error: Support deprecated since Thunderbird 121 and removed in Manifest V3

Open Kluggi opened this issue 10 months ago • 11 comments

I'm getting this error in the error console for every single folder being auto archived (no matter if there is any mails to archive or not).

Error: Support deprecated since Thunderbird 121 and removed in Manifest V3: messages.list() requires to specify a MailFolderId instead of a full MailFolder object. background.js:769 searchMessagesToArchive moz-extension://3d326eaa-ddab-42f5-a8ba-3ac6f7503a90/background.js:769

Auto archiving does seem to work anyway.

For now this is only a warning for a required change for Addons with manifest v3 (which would only work with Thunderbird >=128) At the moment no date is known when Thunderbird will drop v2 support. Therefore I prefer to wait a bit...

I get the same error for every folder in gmail and nothing gets archived.

Thunderbird: 128.7.1esr

Addon: 1.0.0.8

@christosgkoros : Does the archiving button work when you click it manually? And have you configured the add-on and choosen archiving thredsholds?

I only run it manually. The logs are from a manual run.

I have setup Local Folder archiving + 365 days threshold.

Sorry for not being clear... Does it work if you right click a single message -> Organize -> Archive ?

Kluggi avatar Feb 25 '25 08:02 Kluggi

According to the logs it says "0 messages found to archive" for every folder. Just to be sure: do you have mails in these folders older than 360 days (which is your setting according to the logs)?

Brummolix avatar Feb 25 '25 21:02 Brummolix

You are right. I don't have old messages in most folders.

I only keep old messages in the "All mail" folder, but the logs indicate it is ignored, even when ticking "Archive archive folders" in the special folders section.

According to your logs the folder "All Mail" is of type "archives" and is ignored probably because you have not ticked to archive archive folders. Can you activate this and post the logs again?

2/28/2025, 9:36:28 AM - AutoarchiveReloaded - INFO: start searching messages to archive in folder '/[Gmail]/All Mail' (archives) in account '[email protected]' background.js:120:17 2/28/2025, 9:37:03 AM - AutoarchiveReloaded - INFO: message search done for 'All Mail' in account '[email protected]' -> 50338 messages found to archive 2/28/2025, 9:37:03 AM - AutoarchiveReloaded - INFO: start real archiving of 'All Mail' (50338 messages) in account '[email protected]'

The mails in All Mail are not archived. However, neither are they archived when i manually select them and choose Organize>Archive. Is this a Thunderbird issue?

christosgkoros avatar Feb 28 '25 07:02 christosgkoros

If you can't archive them via Organize/Archive it seem to be a Thunderbird issue (as Autoarchive is also calling the internal archive command). You should report it to Thunderbird.

@christosgkoros - Could the behavior your seeing be related to the nature of Gmail labeling? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/thunderbird-and-gmail#w_archiving-messages

What is the destination or your archiving?
