What's keeping you from updating if I may ask?

One reason: the expansion button. (What below is explanation. the idea is simple, but it may be a little wordy to read.)

The old overflow menu not only has the exact same function as the new button does, but allowed for free drag and pin cunstom as the overall UI. The ONLY thing the new button added, is the ability to see all your installed extension's behavior. You can't even go to the individual setting of any extension - for that you'll still need the extension page.

What's even worse, is that 1. it can't be removed or hidden 2. the UI is worse 3. it disabled the ability to add extensions to the overflow menu, which fundamentally makes the overflow menu pointless (yet they don't have the courage to remove it).

Yes, I do realize the extension button update comes along with a significant improvement in the way browser handles extensions, but that has no reason to do with the cutdown of UI.

In my opinion, the change to the extension button is an embodiment of the shift that Firefox's team has been pushing on customization support in recent years. Which is the main reason I've gone seek for Firefox forks. (according to forums and feedback, that was the same for many others too.)

After Waterfox chose to follow that change, there were some attempts to make that button customizable, but soon the activity fainted. There are requests about the button that still live, but I didn't see any declaration from Waterfox about the reason to maintain the button still. (you know, Waterfox is one of the branches that advertised as having support for customizability.) Maybe the developers of Firefox made it so worse that it can't function without the extension button, so that Waterfox has to hold the button still. But they hasn't gave out a simple string like that.

  1. it can't be removed or hidden

That's wrong. If you remove all children from the overflow menu, the overflow menu button will disappear once you leave the editing mode.

  1. it disabled the ability to add extensions to the overflow menu

I pin all my extensions. I have two but it wouldn't bother me if I pinned five more. The buttons are tiny (even tinier in compact theme) and my screen is huge.

I agree that extension configuration and accessibility could be better.

How many extensions do you have?

1.what are you talking about? I'm talking about the extension button. you can't remove or hide the extension button. 3.the number of extensions I have has nothing to do with the fact that it disabled working function, that is not a reply to 3.

You didn't read it correctly. I was saying the old overflow menu was better, and the new extension button is worse, not criticizing the overflow menu. I think I've made the point pretty clear.

Sorry, but there won't be any fixes backported for a 3 year old version of Waterfox.
