Relevant log output
6.5.5, and I ran into this problem as well. I thankfully had a profile backup thanks to Time Machine, so I just copy-pasted the entire backed-up contents in the profile folder that I had before this problem happened. This bug seems to happen when I switch from strict to something other than strict. Just need to make sure not to touch that part for the time being.
I'm seeing this in Linux, too. My explanation is in #3716
Bump. Completely clean install of 6.5.6.
Yes, I also have this bug in version 6.5.6.
Still happens, 6.5.7.
Got curious and changed from Strict to Standard and it saved. But changing from Standard to Strict does not save.
Version 6.5.7 ...
Enhanced Tracking Protection still cannot be set to ( Strict ) ...
.
Still an issue...
FIX THIS!
Do you need help producing this? Uninstall waterfox, delete leftover hidden folders, install waterfox, try to set enhanced protection to strict and restart browser. It doesn't save.
I discovered that LibreWolf is far superior to Waterfox. It’s set to "Strict" mode by default, so you don't need to mess with this and the overall browsing experience feels much smoother.
I have removed Waterfox from my system and strongly suggest everyone do the same, switching instead to the LibreWolf browser.
Have tested with 6.6 and on macOS and Windows - this should no longer be an issue
