Wallpaper scroll doesn't work with desktop symbols enabled

The top/bottom/left/right scrolling works in gnome-shell 3.26.2 (the one that comes with Ubuntu 17.10), but the wallpaper scroll function does not.

I just tested it on an up to date Ubuntu 17.10 and wallpaper scrolling works fine for me. The only problem I found was the edge scrolling when the dock is set to automatically hide.

I have 'sloppy' window focus enabled, could that have something to do with it?

[update] Changing the option doesn't seem to make desktop-scrolling work ;(

@klokop It's because of the desktop icons. I have them disabled and scrolling works. But after enabling them it stops working. Toggling the desktop scroll option in the extension does not make a difference.

It looks like it is a general problem and not related to Ubuntu. Not sure when I get the time to look at it.
