Fastftont With Kindle Further Complications

Open RawBusiness opened this issue 5 months ago • 1 comments

I am trying to get Fastfont on my kindle fire and it's just not showing up. I've followed the instructions previously mentioned in the other threads:

I've created a folder Kindle/ExternalStorage/fonts. I coppied the serif font four times and changed the names to "Fastfont-Italic.ttf" etc. I've turned the kindle on and off again.

Still it is not showing up under the Aa symbol on any of my books. I've inhereted this kindle so idk if the books are downloaded locally or via the kindle store, but I assume it's the latter.

At this point, I'm going to update my kindle and try creating the folder in as Kindle/fonts and try again.

Does anybody have any ideas to resolve this beyond what I have mentioned?

Hi, unfortunately the behaviour is not the same for all Kindle versions. Especially the older ones often make trouble.

If you cannot get it working with the font, there is also the sledge-hammer solution 😄

That means you do not directly use the font, what would be the most elegant way. Instead you can "hardcode" the speed-read formatting into the eBooks.

One user wrote a little python script to apply the fast-reading feature directly in Calibre. Until now that worked for all devices that made problems...

Here is the link to the script repo. https://github.com/giutala/calibre_bionic_converter
