Multiple notes open in their own dedicated windows.

Boostnote could use a way to show multiple notes in their own dedicated window. Preferably without all the chrome (storage, other notes, global search etc).

  • Main Boostnote window, there can be only one
    • Browse and edit all notes
  • Simple dedicated note window, there can be multiple
    • Only view/edit this note. Not possible to search notes. Use main window for that.

This way I can have my IDE and browser and two development-notes open while at the same time editing a new note.

Is there an option I don't know about?
Is someone else working on this?

I have some thoughts. I can make an attempt after the system tray PR gets approved, so I can work on top of that.

There is a duplicate issue related to this https://github.com/BoostIO/Boostnote/issues/1403.

I'll even pledge $ 50 to whoever implements this.

I just might take you up on that @glego.

You might want to split up the remaining two requests because issues are automatically closed by merged commits, and we can't really do that when one issue contains multiple issues.

Tried doing it, and I'm having issues with either electron not passing query params, or react router overwriting them. #2031 issues is duplicate. my work: https://github.com/janat08/Boostnote/tree/severalwindows There's currently a bug with over 2 windows getting into a loop, since I decided to acquire all open windows on initialization so that windows could be refreshed, where the initial windows is supposed to relay all events from/to stores with the rest trying to do the same but not actually being aware of extra windows. 2 ugly things, editors rely on local state, and windows are synced through redux, so store will trump local state, and then the actual editor codemirror has state of it's own is "unstable" about getting it's state overwritten so highlighted text is lost.
