Outrun on MAME starts with no FFB until player goes out of track or crash

Open Dancovich opened this issue 6 months ago • 4 comments

FFBArcade 2.0.0.53 Windows 11 MAME 0.277 64bit

I've setup FFBArcade correctly and it works in all supported games on MAME I've tested, but Outrun in particular has a weird behavior.

Just when starting a race, the wheel won't have any weight and won't apply any road effect force feedback. When I go out of track or crash (probably because a new force type is applied), then the FFB will "wake up" and all forces start working, including wheel weight and road effects.

This is consistent every time I run Outrun. Other games don't show this behavior.

I think that's just how Outrun works! You will need to turn up your wheel strength settings, or turn on the damper etc.

That's interesting! I'll do some research with people with access to a real cabinet to test this. Thanks.

The real cabinet has no FFB / very very weak. The Deluxe cabinet (the moving one) is the one that the FFB plugin is based off IIRC.

You need to activate spring effect. However what you will find is that there is another bug.... Forced spring will stop working after some time in .53. An older version can work for you.
