Feature Request: Add Installable Version with System Integration
Description: I appreciate the current portable version of Caly for Windows, which offers flexibility without installation. However, I'd like to request an additional installable version that integrates with the Windows operating system.
Key features I'd like to see in this installable version:
-
Option to register as default PDF handler during installation -
Automatic file association for `.pdf` extension -
Right-click context menu integration to open files with Caly -
Ability to launch PDF files directly by double-clicking them
The portable version should remain unchanged, offering the same functionality without installation requirements. Having both options would cater to different user preferences and workflows.
This dual-version approach would provide:
-
Continued flexibility for users who prefer portable applications -
Improved convenience for users who want tighter system integration
Thank you for considering this enhancement!
@suprunchuk I agree with the ask, that would be a great addition. Additionally, it would let users create their own Plugins to Caly.
I'm thinking of several ways to do so, I'll give feedback here aoon
@suprunchuk this is still a planned feature. I'm waiting for Avalonia's Parcel feature to become available.
@suprunchuk Caly installer is now available in release 0.1.6.0.
The linking to PDF file extension is not yet supported but is planned
