Java 9+ requested functionality

This general issue is for collecting requests for Java 9+ functionality. They will be addressed as time permits. Certainly there is no general problem with adding any amount of additional Java 9+ functionality, provided it does not conflict with Java 8. Syntax is more of an issue, but can be addressed as well in terms of upgrading the transpiler if necessary.
