Hogwarts Legacy: cursor lock lost with Super3d_VR turned on
Hi BlueSky!
Loving Depth3d for VR recently :)
I'm trying Hogwarts Legacy with Depth3d and running into an interesting issue: if I have super3d_VR turned on, then the window loses the cursor lock on a regular basis and even in fullscreen mode, I end up clicking on the menu bar at the bottom. The cursor lock is not lost if I turn super3d_VR off.
Note: They don't have fullscreen exclusive, fullscreen windowed only! First day it's out, I'd imagine they have to add that option soon.
I tried showing in the second monitor without task bar but: A) Still loses cursor lock on the side B) VR companion App can only focus on main window
I tried playing with reshade options, including Cursor lock.. no luck
Do you have any suggestions from past experience? Thanks!
Edit: Cursor lock seems to work with windowed mode. But then VR companion app won't render 3d.. unless it's full screen.
Downloading the game To check this issue out.
Looks like a great game so far. Thanks for investigating.
FYI, using 'Special K' with this helped my fix full screen issue but have to use the 'local install' of Special K instead of the default global install because of some setting they have enabled in DirectX12, then have to install Reshade differently.
Pretty much the instructions found here for 'Nier Automata' got it running: https://wiki.special-k.info/en/SpecialK/ReShade
Then I was able to force full screen mode under display tab in Special K and tell it to load ReShade dll. I ended up manually changing the path in the ini file but I think that's because I used the wrong mode (Unofficial instead of Third Party).
Not seeing any 3d effect though.. if I switch to 'Depth Map View' it's all black.. should it show different colors for different distances? Also trying to look at offsets of things in the images, and not seeing anything like that.
I think I got it working after one more change: I flipped off "Depth Detection" and now it seems to be detecting the depth and showing in 3d correctly? lol
Let me know if you have issues with these instructions or want any more details from me. Thanks again for building this wonderful program :)
Small suggestion: allow skipping past the intro warning by holding down some key.. slightly annoying. Not a big deal though.
Still doesn't seem like 3d effect is very strong, practically non-existent even after Depth Map Adjustment.
I suspect flipping off that Depth Detection isn't doing it but rather just putting everything at the same offset. Not sure though.
Idk, time to flip off reshade for now and play without it for me but I'll be checking back.
I haven't fully investigated but think I figured it out: Have to 'Early' load Reshade (and use unofficial plugin with file path so it points to one that has Depth3d installed)
If you use the late loading then first Super K processes the screen, losing the depth information along the way before it gets to Depth3d. But Early loading means Depth3d processes the image first, then passes it's output to Super K which can make it full screen and what not.
Depth Map view looks good! Can tell that things are different between images. Haven't tried in VR yet but will later when I have time. Then will update this post.
I suspect they'll fix this alongside the 'day 1' patch coming in a few days or other patch in the near future, but hope this trick helps others who encounter similar issues with other games.
Have it working in VR, I can confirm this works.
Just wish I had a graphics card good enough that I didn't have to run everything at it's lowest settings just to get over 20fps instead of almost highest without Depth3d and over 50fps. But combining with "Special K" correctly does solve this issue.
@BlueSkyDefender You are welcome to close this issue.
Make sure to enable performance mode in ReShade and try the Performance+VRS in the shader.
If you are using the companion app lock it's frame rate.
I hope this helps you.
Wow.. that Perfomant+VRS really makes a huge difference! Thanks!
Regarding Companion app.. I don't understand how to lock the frame rate.. does that mean that it won't try to catch up when it gets behind? Was considering suggesting that myself, would be awesome. I have noticed it'll often be slow and playing catch up in the headset even when the PC screen version looks fine.
Is that "Key Lock"? What is "Key Map"? Better documentation explaining some of those App Keys would be nice.
sorry about that. Key Lock once enabled lets you use the keyboard keys that would let you adjust the app.
Map Key is to bring the in app map keys.
You can lock the frame rate of the app with RTSS or AMD Per app Frame lock or Nvidia Per app settings.
