[Suggestion] Configurable range for the gun turret

I think it would be really cool if we could configure the range for the Gun Turret so that we can defend our bases with more efficiency. For example: I have a castle and I would like to place the turrets on the ramparts but they are to high up so they won't actually shoot anything. If I could up the range, even if it is an item/block, then I could hit the enemies before they get to the gate.

What about a max range that you can't touch, but some kind of sensor device that you place down to let the turret target enemies in some range around it? Like, it won't shoot past (asspull number) 128 blocks, but on its own it only reaches (another asspull, haven't used them yet) 8. The sensor station lets it target enemies in the 8 blocks around it, but you can place it further out.

That would almost certainly be hell to actually code, especially if you had to link the sensor station to a turret, and it wouldn't necessarily fit the theme of IE, so probably nevermind, actually. >.>

Yeah a turret upgrade for that would be nice though!
