Just starting out
So like all of you I am just starting out getting this figured out. I am going to try the version 3.16.1 so i can watch the included replays. After I download the source zip file and unzip it in my home directory what should I do next?
I'm sorry to post again just to be clear I downloaded the map files and the replay files and have included them in the folder. Do I need wine or will this run without?
Hello. You are on linux, correct? If so, the linux version available from this repository's README is a headless version. This means there is no graphical display that you can use to watch replays.
But Blizzard games have a great track record of running well under Wine, so you should be able to install the Windows version of SC2 under Wine without much trouble.
Hi @josimp and welcome! I see that you're relatively new to GitHub, but you'll find the Issues tracker to be less than ideal for discussions of this type (and frowned upon in some repos). I suggest you consider posting your 'getting setup' question in one of the other communities as you'll find there are many more folks that can respond immediately and provide links to tutorials and the like in real-time (the Discord crowd is really helpful).
Just to add to @eminence comment, are you intending to use the pysc2 python package and have explored those docs?
Good luck with your development and if you go the Discord route and others can't help feel free to drop me a message.
I was interested in trying out whatever they had for Linux. I understand what headless means but what can it do head-less? Is it the testing feature?
I would like to try pysc2. That would be awsome to try to create a bot that will do my build and I will try to beat it. Then I will use that strat until I can beat it, so on and so forth...
