Unmaintained - Fork needed?

This library seems to be unmaintained and the maintainers seem to not react to PR's & Questions.

@iradul , @webmakersteve what are your plans regarding node-rdkafka?

We (as a company) are thinking of creating a public fork that we maintain since we have customers relying on this. But obv. that only would make sense if you'd be willing to redirect e.g. by a notice in the README.
