Add World Clock widget

Open HaleyHalcyon opened this issue 3 months ago • 13 comments

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. I want a FOSS World Clock app that's a native Android app.

Describe the solution you'd like I would like to see a World Clock page in the app and individual time-zone World Clock widgets for the launcher.

Use case Set my phone down on the desk as an alternative to having 4 desktop clocks for 4 timezones

Describe alternatives you've considered I've looked around for other AOSP-based clocks but they don't have them. I used to use a non-FOSS world clock widget, but it didn't look too good.

@HaleyHalcyon Hi,

I would like to see a World Clock page in the app and individual time-zone World Clock widgets for the launcher.

Can you show me with screenshots what exactly you want?

... a World Clock page in the app ...

Isn't the Clock tab enough?

Here is a screenshot of v8.2 (805685915) of com.google.android.deskclock:

For the launcher widgets, I do NOT want com.google.android.deskclock’s implementation. I want individual analog or digital clocks that show the name of the area and the time in that area. Here’s a mock-up:

Okay for widgets. This was already on my to-do list (or rather to try to do).

For the World Clock tab, I assume you only want an interface change? If so, I don't plan any changes yet.

There's no World Clock tab in the app at present. Do you mean you have no plans to add one?

So what do you call it? 🤔

Apart from the tab name and interface, what exactly do you want?

There is no option to add more world clocks in that tab.

Because it's a predefined list to avoid any database connection.

What are you talking about?! There’s no list! There are no world clocks.

@HaleyHalcyon 😮 I'm talking about this list:

See screenshot

What is the language of your device?

I have never seen that list before!

What is the language of your device?

Japanese.

@HaleyHalcyon In the Clock tab, what happens when you click the floating button? You don't have the list of cities that appear? 🤔

BlackyHawky avatar Oct 06 '25 09:10 BlackyHawky

The think in the center was an “add world clock” button?! 😱 I thought it was a design element!

I'd also like a world clock widget - by which I mean - add a single clock widget to my phone, set to the time of one of the cities I've got in my list of clocks rather than the current local time.
