Can't compile OSX/Catalina

Apparently the brew instructions -without-single --without-static etc have not been a part of brew for a while now, at least not how it is shown in your instructions, are they supposed to work with some old OSX versions? I wasn't able to figure out how to proceed, even the wrong SSL message is a bit of a show stopper right now. Thanks!
