[FEATURE]: Tabbed layout

Summary

i3 tiling WM has a tabbed layout. which is my go-to layout when working in i3. kwin had it long ago had this feature (KDE 4 times) but that wasn't ported over to KDE 5, sadly.

IMHO window tabbing is a window manager's job, and since kwin doesn't provide it natively, it might make sense to included into this plugin, since other tiling managers feature that, too (and I think that's a really helpful one - not just to me).

A clear and concise description of what you want to happen

  • [ ] Add tabbed-layout mode
  • [ ] Add shortcuts to activate tabbed windows by their position (1, 2, 3, ...)

A clear and concise description of any alternative solutions or features you've considered.

  1. Downgrade to KDE 4 -> I think that's not even possible anymore
  2. Use i3 instead -> But then you're giving up a lot on the whole kwin/KDE experience.

Additional info

EDIT: Forgot to mention, stacked layout is not an alternative, as it is visually something completely different and is not as much of a help (visually) to distinguish in what window you are as if you'd have tabbed layout.

Hi followup to see if there is any update on this issue... Or is it possible to at least achieve stacking (similar to i3)?

Stacking exists but is not tabbed . Sadly.

I second this feature request. Tabbing area should absorb all new windows on the desktop.
