[FEATURE]: Focus windows between multiple screens

Open Akselmo opened this issue 3 years ago • 5 comments

Summary

Hi, I'm not sure if this feature is in already or if I should've reported this as a bug, but it seems Bismuth handles every display separately.

I would like to move focus with keyboard only from monitor to another.

A clear and concise description of what you want to happen

Currently I can only change window focus inside one screen.

For example: I would like to be able to go to the rightmost window, then when focusing on right again, it would focus on the first window on my another screen.

I hope this bad paint drawing helps lol

Currently the focus wont move to another screen.

A clear and concise description of any alternative solutions or features you've considered.

In terms of just moving focus, it should work using default shortcuts provided by KWin. Those provided by Bismuth will be removed in the feature release.

The issue is still valid for moving windows between screens, though.

Those provided by Bismuth will be removed in the feature release.

After feedback received here, I am not sure if we are going to do that.

I can confirm the behaviour is as described by OP. KWin shortcuts do not work if the next window in a certain direction is on a different screen. Only works within a screen.

This + window-stacking is whats currently missing to be a replacement for me for the pop-shell.

Hi, I'm also interested on moving the focus between screens (with the 'focus follow cursor' option enabled) like you can do on awesomewm, for example. When you move the focus to the next or previous screen (and put the focus on the first available window, the mouse should be moved over the newly focused window in order to be consistent.

Any updates on this? I'm also looking for a way to get this behavior.
