Android Light wallet: Numberpad disappearing/ unable to sign transaction

Open Defianer opened this issue 3 years ago • 10 comments

What happened: In about 30-50% of all cases where a transaction needs to be signed in the Android Light wallet, the number pad appears for half a second to sign, and then disappears again immediately, with no possibility to sign. My only workaround is to kill the app, re-start and repeat. Using a Samsung S10e mobile phone.

What you expected to happen: Interaction with numberpad for signing needs to work every time and may not disappear.

How to reproduce it (as minimally and precisely as possible): Create any transaction on my device and at random this bug will happen in 30-50% of all signing cases.

Anything else we need to know?: Happy to provide a video of the exact issue, or any logs or my exact Android settings/ version, etc. Please guide me in which information you need and where to find it.

Same issue here in about 5% of all cases. Happens on both Amazon Fire Tablet 11 and Android Emulator for Windows named „Memu“. Just as a sidenode: on the emulator, the app is much more laggy and unresponsive than other apps I run in the emulator.

Have heard back on the Defichain German Telegram Group from two more users (1x Samsung S10e and 1x Redmi Note) that they have the exact same issue. This seems to be a software bug and not related to a single piece of faulty hardware.

Hi, for this issue, we still haven't found out the exact issue why it happens. However, we are working on a solution #2175 to be able to restart a transaction without the need to restart the app.

If you have any videos, we're happy to view it for debugging purposes.

Hi,

just bubbling up again. Issue still persists. It's extremely annoying to have to restart the app dozens of times daily. Is this still on the roadmap to be fixed in the future?

For me at my Huawei p40 it's the same problem too in 10% of the cases I want to trade something.

And at my 2nd phone (Samsung) in my other wallet it's in ~30% the cases too, that the number pad disappears... Already since weeks

We're not yet sure what's causing this issue as we can't replicate this on our side. One workaround that we got was to swipe down to show the options. Swiping up will show the passcode prompt again. Can you check if this works? @Defianer @defichainislove

@thedoublejay: I've tried swiping both down or up on my Samsung S10e after the number pad had wrongly disappeared. This is not showing any effect. If I encounter this bug, the number pad pops up, disappears and is not recoverable.

Any chance you can investigate here, please? This has persisted for weeks (if not months) and when I occasionally ask on Telegram, I get responses "Oh, I thought I was the only one having this issue". It seems to affect dozens of users or potentially even much larger crowds.
