ISSUE TYPE

  • Bug Report

GEEQIE VERSION

Geeqie 1.7.2 GTK3
GTK3

OS / DISTRIBUTION

Arch kernel 5.16.2

SUMMARY

remote slideshow not taking window focus even with --without-tools option

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

geeqie --remote --fullscreen -t --file:/home/stephen/pic/slideshow/1.jpg --slideshow-stop --delay=2 --slideshow-start

This command opens a full screen with the tools showing as a black square with the tools in focus so that the display is behind the desktop panels.

Note that --without-tools throws syntax error whereas -t has no effect

A not-so-wonderful workaround is: geeqie --remote -t --file:/home/stephen/pic/slideshow/1.jpg ; geeqie --remote --slideshow-stop --delay=2 --slideshow-start --fullscreen

Thanks. Good enough for me.

Note that --without-tools throws syntax error whereas -t has no effect

There is an inconsistency (perhaps intentional) in the option naming:

geeqie [ +t, --with-tools | -t, --without-tools ]

geeqie --remote [+t --tools-show | -t --tools-hide]

That has been the case since GqView, so it is probably not worth changing.

But that is not the problem ...
