Feature Request:Undo.
Joy springback caused the wrong option to be selected just as I click select causing my saved game to be overwritten. Hundreds of hours. Joycon drift could also present the same issue.
Could a backup of the current game be automatically saved before a restore is made in case this happens, then the user can select undo?
You understand that would double the amount of time for operations, right? It would slow down Checkpoint a lot. Just use touch screen controls if your controllers have issues, or repair/replace your controllers.
I measured <2 seconds for a backup and ~1.5 seconds for a restore so the impact seems trivial compared to the loss of possibly months of gameplay. Of course every game would be different. Another option could be to just rename replaced files rather than a full backup. Regarding controllers, I believe the deadzone responds differently in HB as the controller had no issues in games. If the impact would be too great or too much work then feel free to close this issue.😀
It really depends on the game. Also, iarc you're required to confirm upon restoration. So you really need to mess up twice to get your data overridden, and that's not Checkpoint's fault. A "backup before restore" with progressive, automatic name could be implemented and configurable, defaulting to false
