Disable discovery
As seen in a review:
This is the only app that worked for me, however auto discovery is severely messed up. First my printer was shown three times, but none of the entries worked, just "connection refused". When opening the app from my home screen I now saw my printer four(!) times in the list of manually added printers, although I didn't ever add it. This list however helpfully shows the URI that is being used, and it seemed to stem from auto discovery and was just messed up. It was " http:/server:631/printers/printers/printer_name". Note the single slash after http and the duplicate printers part. After manually adding the printer with the proper URI everything worked fine. Now if there were a way to disable auto discovery that would be great, since those multiple nonworking entries in the printers list are a little annoying.
Duplicate of #84 actually.
I think an option to disable discovery could still be useful, besides the given reasons in the review.
For my use case there are a quite a few printers in the Network (~60) and not all of them are directly useable, for example 5 Printer show up through CUPS, 4 of those are real printers, lets call them A.1 A.2 A.3 and A.4 with the fifth "virtual printer' being called A.
Now i cant send a print job directly to A.1, A.2, A.3 or A.4 only to A and the cups server then decides which real printer to use (they are all standing next to each other so it doesnt really matter which one does the actual printing)
With a lot of these "virtual printers' the list of printers becomes rather long and cluttered making it hard to actually find the printer i want to select.
When i open the app i can delete all the printers i do not want, however they will show up again after every new discovery.
So if it is not too much work i would vote for a toggle in the app to enable/disable automatic recovery. That way we could use the discovery once to populate the list, disable it, clean up the list and not worry about those deleted printers showing up again.
Fair enough. Seems reasonable to implement anyway so why not.
