[Bug]: Sporadic loud screeching/static noises during audio calls

Open tejas-n opened this issue 2 years ago • 5 comments

Context

Hi, we've been using Linphone SDK 4.4.32 for a long time and have had no issues. We upgraded to Linphone to 5.x after which we sporadically started experiencing a loud static/screeching noise. It's so loud that the users have to hang up the call. This doesn't happen every single time, but it still does happen occasionally. We've also experienced this on the official Linphone android app.

Here is the link to the logs and the recording of how it sounds - https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1QGaOoVoaSEjKf7x2c2mKG8XjNtoxpRqX?usp=share_link

Do you know why this might be happening? Thanks

Hey all, I was wondering if anyone was able to reproduce this issue and/or fix this issue?

Hi,

There are a lot of calls in your log file, can you tell me which one had the issue? Also, do you still reproduce the issue with current Linphone android app from the Store (5.0.14)?

@Viish Sorry, I somehow missed your comment. I am unsure which call in that log had that issue unfortunately. We still sometimes have that issue on the latest version of Linphone app as well as the SDK(5.2.86). Linphone SDK 4.5.0 doesn't have this issue at all, but have experienced it on 4.5.26 as well, so we are suspecting some change introduced between those two might be causing it.

It's sporadic which is why it's a little hard to predict what conditions cause that.

We just experienced the issue on 4.5.0 as well. 4.4.32 is the only one which hasn't had any of those "screeching" issues so far, so we are suspecting that 4.5.0 probably introduced the issue.

This bug is still present in 5.1.4^0 release on Android 11 (system update November 1, 2022). I tried to changing the settings, etc but I am unable to reproduce the bug. It happens with both incoming and outgoing calls so I am almost certain that it is a software issue with Linphone. I am running the same version of Linphone on another Anrdoid phone where it works just fine.
