I think it hits play after a transcription. But no music player was runnig, so now Apple Music always starts. Turned it off for now, but it seems a bug in this release.

When you mention Apple Music, are you referring to the music app on the Mac? It should hit play only if it paused the music, but would love to know more if its not working as intended.

I also noticed that it was enabling the music app in the background because I could see the music icon appear in the dock. I don’t have a music app running, but the music icon appeared in the dock. This suggests the app was trying to execute playback in the background.

I have noTunes app to prevent Apple Music from launching. So it only appeared in the dock.

Caught it. Can you hit me up at the support e-mail so that I can send you the fixed version to test it @avinashkanaujiya ?

It's funny, but I tried replicating the issue, but it's not happening right now, so I don't know how to test. Can you give me the steps to check the bug? I just tried replicating it, and it's not happening now. I don't know what changed—maybe I rebooted the laptop, or something else?

I tried to confirm it, but with version 1.46, I can no longer reproduce the issue. Strange.

I closed the settings window and reopened it... no change. Then I quit the entire application and restarted it... still the same. I even tried helping Apple Music by launching it once in the background... didn't help either.

As a final check, I left Apple Music open to see if it might send a playback signal, even if no music was playing, before starting the transcript. Still no response.

Maybe it's already been fixed or properly conditionalized from the moment you first turned off the setting after updating to the current version. 🤷

Just chiming in, I landed on this thread after experiencing exactly the same problem, I had no music player active or even open, and I started using VoiceInk, and when I stopped the recording, Apple Music app on macOS just started launching itself immediately after each recording. What's really weird is that I simply quit VoiceInk and restarted it, and poof, the problem was gone.

Yeah, I'm still having this issue intermittently in version 1.46.

Same for me, version 1.46.

Try out the latest v1.47 @everyone

So far, so good here! Edit: It just happened again. Darn it.

Reproduces on 1.49

Same here, but not with Apple Music. It's already happened twice again, this time with YouTube in the Arc browser. It continued the playback of a video that was already stopped before. And fun fact, the issue disappears if you just restart your application. So I don't know how to reproduce this. It just suddenly happens sometimes.

My MacBook Pro got updated to macOS 15.6 (24G84) last night. After the update, when I stop the mini recorder(VoiceInk 1.49), it opened Apple Music instead of adding the text to the target app.

The issue disappeared once VoiceInk was restarted.

Same for me – no Apple Music running, but VoiceInk input launches it instead of pasting the transcribed text. Doesn't happen all the time though, I have yet to find a pattern.

If the issue still persists, please remove the experimental feature to pause or un-pause music.
