Sponsored Medibots!

About The Pull Request

What they do

These new medibots will occasionally inject you with space cola when healing. When they do, they will also pay cargo from an internal budget that recharges through its lifespan. Emagging will instead inject 13 loko, leading to a very painful od

How to obtain

There are currently two ways to obtain these medibots. First, a random event may occur that spawns these new medibots. The effect used is the same as the delivery beacon. You can also buy a pack of them for VERY cheap in cargo.

Additional Notes

The way that this is coded is relatively modular, adding an alt_heal proc to medibots. This proc is called right before actually healing a pation, and if it returns TRUE then the standard healing/chloral hydrate modes are disabled. This would be extremely handy in the future to quickly create more medibots with unique healing methods.

Why It's Good For The Game

Provides a way to get medibots cheap if cargo and science are too incompetent/dead/making a borg army to bother constructing more medis. Also its funny.

The emag effect is cringe, otherwise based PR (I have not looked at the code)

ike709 avatar Aug 07 '22 02:08 ike709

aleight, what do you suggest for the emag?

etherware-novice avatar Aug 07 '22 02:08 etherware-novice

Have it deduct funds? /shrug

ike709 avatar Aug 07 '22 02:08 ike709

but that doesnt effect the patient and cargo probably wouldnt care that much

etherware-novice avatar Aug 07 '22 02:08 etherware-novice

this is cool but being able to buy them for so cheap and have them passively generate income is cringe. cargo should need to negotiate a deal with soace cola for this, perhaps involving a lawyer

these cola bots have a shared budget that limits how much cargo is payed, so you cant get payed more than 200 in the first 2 minutes, 400 in the first 4 minutes, etc and you can obv adjust those vars to be more forgiving

I like this, I think it integrates well into the game. Cool idea.

Sugar OD is probably the worst one of any chemical as you effectively round remove yourself. Last time I did it I was thrown into a morgue tray for the rest of the round.

Have them inject 13 loko. It'll get them drunk, ODs at 60u, which can make their eyes fall out or has a small chance to make your heart stop. Death by liver failure or by the OD effects are at least fixable unlike sugar.

FortSumter avatar Aug 09 '22 21:08 FortSumter

wait sugars not fixable?

etherware-novice avatar Aug 09 '22 22:08 etherware-novice

From my limited experience on it, the sugar OD is unlike anything else and is hard to fix because unlike any other chem, it doesn't kill you.

What it does do is permanently knock you unconscious, and because our medical staff are necromancers and not doctors they have no idea what to do with you.

Like I said, when it happened to me the doc just tossed me in the morgue so idk if you could get your brain removed and get cloned or pod cloned or if there is a chem that exists that'll take you out of it. What I do know is it causes a condition that's exclusively rare and more cringe than any other chem.
