Android App Won't Sync to WebDAV

I cannot get the Android app to sync with my OwnCloud using WebDAV. It freezes the app completely and it won't even open again after force quitting. You have to uninstall and reinstall to even get the app to open again.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Install Android App
  2. Go to "Sync" in settings
  3. Input WebDAV login information
  4. App shows a black screen and no information every time you open it from here on out.
  5. If you force quit and open the app again, it shows a splash screen that gradually fades to white. Nothing else happens.

Expected behavior Either it syncs or it gives me an error message telling me why.

Smartphone (please complete the following information):

  • Device: OnePlus 9
  • OS: LineageOS 22.2 (Android 15)
  • Newest version of APK available here in Releases.

Additional context My phone does not have GooglePlay Services, as I use LineageOS.

Thanks for your feedback! We haven’t updated the APK in the releases for a while, so that issue may already be fixed. We’ll address it in the upcoming beta, and we’re also working on making the app available outside the Play Store once it’s released. I installed that version. It still fails to sync but gives me no error message or feedback at all, though at least now the app doesn't become unusable.

I was able to get it to work. Turns out I was using the server URL instead of the URL for my files on the server.

Yeah, I’ve fallen into that trap a few times when using WebDAV with my Nextcloud server. Anyhow, I’ll make sure to include this in the docs. Just a heads up, sync between mobile and desktop is a bit broken. We’ve fixed it in this PR, which should be released in about a week along with a new beta of Pocket. If you don’t mind, I’ll keep this open just to track what needs to be added to the docs once it’s in production.
