VoiceOver doesn't read steppers and tree control correctly

Open marrie opened this issue 9 years ago • 7 comments

In using tt5 for the mac I'm noticing the following in channel creation. The steppers are not reading their values. This is a detriment to voiceover users and should be looked at. Following is a screenshot of the effected area. Notice the sliders don't read properly with voiceover. This is a screenshot of the effected area.

Last, trying to focus on a channel is not all that easy using voiceover. It's doable, somewhat, however leaving the channel by choosing the lobby does not take you to the lobby. It takes you to a mysterious place where you still see 0 users. This also needs to be looked into for better accessibility.

All in all the program is somewhat usable but more of a frustrating experience if I'm in a hurry and need to get this or that going. Thanks.

@bear101 in Teamtalk 5.6.2 the chat area can be read with the up and down arrow keys on the Mac keyboard, but not by using VoiceOver keys (ctrl and the option -keys held down at the same time). I think something can be greatly improved if VoiceOver can follow and track the keyboard focus when a list/group area is focused. Can you look into this, or are there some beta builds where accessibility has changed we can test?

there is also something going on with the channel navigation that i have to hold down the voiceover navigation keys and once the thing is chosen i have to do a mouse click, with voiceover key shift space. and once i release the keys and i start pressing the vo+right arrow it sends me back to the beginning of the list.

Yes. Tree views are terrible with VoiceOver. They really aren't real tree views to it unlike other elements. You also have to accomplish this with Ignore Groups under Navigation in VoiceOver Utility, preferably on a VoiceOver activity with TeamTalk5 as the triggering application. Here's what I'm talking about attached.

Thanks for looking into this!

I've published a new beta that uses Qt 6.4 beta2

This beta looks very promising. I still have to figure out why the chat messages aren't showing up as expected.
