[Bug]: With some aliases, completion shows available options but does not complete the command line

Open DavideRossi opened this issue 11 months ago • 0 comments

Expected behavior

Given x is an alias $ x[TAB][TAB] shows available completions (say alpha and beta). $ x al[TAB] completes to $ x alpha

Current behavior

For some alias, available completions are shown with double-tab, but actual completion does not take place. See the "Steps to reproduce" for a specific case.

Possible solution

Sorry, no idea...

Context

No response

Steps to reproduce

With this alias: alias kubectx='kubectl config use-context' and given a few contexts in kubectl configuration (in my case: k3s, k3s-test and minikube) When the command line is

$ kubectx

by pressing tab twice I get:

$ kubectx
k3s       k3s-test  minikube

Then with this command line:

$ kubectx mi

pressing tab accomplishes nothing. If I use the original command in place of the alias

$ kubectx=kubectl config use-context mi

pressing tab completes to

$ kubectx='kubectl config use-context minikube

Notes

I do not have a bare idea if that's a bug, a bash-it bug, a feature or what else. But it's annoying...
