Linux: Freezing when adding projects
Describe the bug
- Install BOINC from flatpak or apt
- Try to add a project manually, but put in an invalid password
- BOINC freezes. If you wait minutes it will sometimes unfreeze, with the project not added.
I do not have an exact sequence of: OS version, BOINC version, etc to accurately reproduce this, but given that I've seen it on a number of Ubuntu & Mint variants from different packages (flatpak and apt), I think it's worth noting here. Not a high priority bug, just wanted to write it down somewhere in case others are experiencing it and can give better diagnostic details. Just had this happen yesterday with the latest flatpak.
I am pretty sure I have seen this in older versions even with the correct password, but can't say for 100% sure.
Validation: In an Ubuntu 24.10 VM (clean install) I installed Flatpak and BOINC (branch stable). I chose Radioactive@Home randomly and entered an incorrect username/password. I very quickly got a popup that "'BOINC MANAGER' is Not Responding'.
I couldn't repro this with Windows / master.
Did you do new user or existing user (I tried both)
Both.
Vitalii, if you have a Linux/GUI environment, please try to repro this
OK, will do that
Hi, just to confirm this on two new Debian AMD64 12.9 installs with LXQT (different architectures). Froze the whole client when attempting to add various projects with existing password and username via 'advanced view'. For some reason the only one that worked was numberfields.
