Itemvar to swap 6-way handles to 8-way handles

Open genestrashcan opened this issue 8 years ago • 9 comments

A stylevar/itemvar should be present in the app to switch items with 6-way handles (light bridges, fizzlers) to an 8-way handle. This would be applied automatically during export, though we'd maybe want to have something that can be set in properties.txt to exclude an item from this toggle. Items placed in a centered position will keep it when switching handles, and vice-versa, so this is not a problem; you'd just be unable to place new items in these positions.

I don't think there's such a thing as Handle-6.

BEE2-items Wiki says: HANDLE_6_POSITIONS: Allows centering in two orientations, and offset on the 4 sides. The instance should be centered, with the sides in the y axis. When offset, the +x side faces toward the center (and won't extend into other voxels).

The problem with this is that it would make it so you couldn't place fizzlers in the center of a voxel. I think at some point somebody suggested making a stylevar for this, and @TeamSpen210 even pointed out that they'd keep their current position when the handle was swapped. I can't find an issue for it, so it was probably suggested on Discord or Gitter.

Yep, i tested this and works like a charm. This Itemvar should definitelly be implemented.

Title updated.

This would be more of an application issue I think, we'd want to swap all 6-way items to 8-way automatically instead of specifically implementing it in packages.

Uh yes, that's what this issue is for?
