More Connection Signage

Open LincoCompany00 opened this issue 1 month ago • 3 comments

Description of the feature

Instead of adding colored frames to signage when there's more than 10 used, use more symbols! I'm assuming you can implement this if you could add colored frames to them. If not, then you can add these to the other timer options on the connection signage item!

— Heart — Lightning Bolt — Filled Heart, maybe?

— Filled Square — Filled Circle — Triangle (border only) — Diamond

— Division Symbol — Whatever this thing is: ¤

Feel free to not use any of the ones that you think are too confusing! (Eg. Lightning Bolt getting confused with electricity, the third group of shapes getting confused with the default signage) Image

Why should this be implemented

Personally I think it's better than having colored frames. Although some of my symbols may cause confusion, like the heart and lightning bolt ones.

Additional information

I kinda remember making an issue for this, but I can't find an existing one, so it must have been a dream or something. Or possibly I never finished creating the issue. I definitely remember writing the connection signage item part...

How often would these be used, though? Even the colored frames barely show up in good puzzles because good puzzles usually avoid signages whenever they can, it's rare to find one with more than one or two symbols in use.

Well, I think it's better than colored frames; it's much more obvious that they represent different connections than colored frames. Oh, and with the case with these additional symbols, after you use them all up it would use colored frames.

Sorta torn here. New symbols are a good idea, better than frames certainly. But as Critfish said good puzzles shouldn't really need all 10 existing signs. There's also the issue that with the existing signs you can clearly see them in editor so you can match the signage item to them, but that probably wouldn't happen with custom signs, it's probably going to be inconsistent as to which pair gets swapped.
