Description
Force Deflection Fields are the same as gratings, so they should block High Energy Pellets depending on the "Ignore Gratings" setting in the Pellets window. But I think it blocks the Pellet no matter what is checked.
Expected behavior
The Force Deflection Field should only block HEPs if the Ignore Gratings option is not checked.
Steps to Reproduce
—Step One: Export a pallete to Portal 2 with Pellets, Grating, and Force Deflection Fields. Uncheck "Ignore Gratings" —Step Two: In the editor, place two Pellet Launchers, one aiming though the field, and the other though the grating. The Pellet should not travel though either. —Step 3: Repeat everything again, except this time check "Ignore Gratings." — In game, the pellets should be going though both barriers, but it's still blocked by the force deflection field.
This isn't exactly a bug, but yeah it would make sense for that setting to also affect the FDF, since they basically just behave like gratings. Probably should affect the physics repulsion field too.
Yeah, it probably should affect the Physics Repulsion Field, as pellets are kind of physics objects. I just don't know if it blocks them already. There should probably be an additional note in the Ignore Gratings or Force Deflection Field's discription that says this setting affects them.
Not sure about physics repulsion fields, because they just block all physics objects, not act like grating. Paint bombs would be blocked by those too for example.
I know, but I thought that it could affect whether Pellets can go though it, as it's kind of a physics object, as it interacts with walls and other objects, but it's kind of not at the same time since it's literally a sphere of energy. So people might have differing opinions on whether it makes more sense to block it or let it pass though— the same reason there's an option for the gratings.
Actually, force deflection fields also don't block paint bombs either. Not sure whether to change this, it does mean they're slightly different to grating, and could break someone's puzzle.
Uh, I don't understand. I never said anything about gel bombs.
I'm meaning FDFs are inconsistent from gratings already, so if I allowed pellets, they'd need to allow paint bombs, which is inconsistent with their previous behaviour.
Well, that's probably fine, right? The description technicically states that it's basically a toggleable grating, so I doubt that changing the gel's behavior with it would mess anyone up. Honestly I think it's more likely that it'd break someone's puzzle IF this gets changed— because they'd expect gel to go though like grating. If you know what I mean
For example, I expected that the Force Deflection Field would let pellets though if I changed this option. And I always figured that gel bombs always went though it as well.
