Fans as a testing element
Fans would be a new testing element, that create a limited-range airflow that pushes and pulls objects, like a limited range funnel.
- Takes up 1x1 space
- Sucks through portals
- Polarity can be toggled via inputs
- Ability to suck and destroy items could be toggled via open/closed item properties
- Can be activated/deactivated via inputs
- Airflow goes 5 puzzlemaker voxels outwards in a straight line from the fan
- If item has no connections and disabled it spins slowly for decoration
If they don't have connects and are disabled they spin slowly as decoration
Perhaps enabled fans could have a blue glow coming from behind them, reversed fans have an orange glow, and decorative fans could get their own color-less gray model with no glow, to help signify that it is decorative, and not a testing element.
Just had an idea for a second variant - a standing fan that blows air through both sides of itself:
The standing fan would have a unique property - gel that goes through the fan gets scattered everywhere as it comes out the other side:
Excuse the crappy diagrams, but you get the idea.
Not sure if the gel thing would work since we can't detect gel flow, but maybe just having some point_pushes along the edges of the fan would cause gel to get diverted off to the sides a bit?
I just had an idea— what if the timer widget sets how far the fan blows? Maybe in one half of a voxel measurement. The minimum (03) is 1 or 1.5 voxels. I know this is an old thread, but it's set to open, so...
They should also blow the player up when on the floor, and cubes too. The cubes should be sturdy enough when placed carefully in the center of the fan so they'll stay up steadily— that way you can redirect lasers with it.
