Friendly Turret
This Turret comes from Lego Dimensions.
It's friendly so it doesn't shoot players. It only shoot certain things, here's a list of them:
The Turret Target; #3731 #2620
The Turret Target Cube; #3732
Monitors (only if the character is on the monitor);
Bumbleballs (When shot it stays in place);
Bad Turrets.
This Turret doesn't die when knocked over.
When left alone it says:
"Are you still there?"
"I'm scared."
"I'm scared."
"Um, hello?"
"Hello?"
"Hellooo."
When killed another Turret:
"But I need to protect the humans!"
"I never liked her."
"She was provoking you."
"She probably deserved it."
"She's probably OK."
"Activated."
"Deploying."
This would be better than using a normal Turret, because It can hurt you, and... It's cute.
This should change the laser color to green, if not hardcoded.
That's actually pretty nice idea. Unfortunatelly I think that the color of the laser is hardcoded. However I think that you can do something like in the P2 campaing, that the turret's laser flickers.
Annoyingly the laser flickering is directly tied to disabling the turret from firing entirely. Though we could probably replicate it by just randomly turning on and off a brush in front of the turret's eye which blocks the beam. Or give the turret itself a different skin to indicate that it's friendly.
A different skin would be better, like a pink turret with hearts or something
Companion turret.
I have just discovered that npc_turret_floor from HL2 exists ingame for some reason, it could be used for this.
Those are HL2 Combine turrets, how would that help? You can just use ai_relationship
entities to make Portal turrets ignore players or attack other things.
Changing its model and standing on front of it for it to shoot the "non-lethal" bullets
Portal turrets can already have their models changed, IIRC Combine turrets actually can't (at least without VScript hacks). Not sure what you mean by "non-lethal bullets", we'd just make them not target you entirely.
I think they mean the friendly version of the turrets when Alyx reprograms them to shoot the Combine, but I'm pretty sure their bullets still damage you if you stand in front of them
