Grated floor platform section

Open Milkman68 opened this issue 8 years ago • 21 comments

  • Old Aperture I'd guess would be Old-styled gratings.
  • Overgrown would feature debris holes poking out of the chamber, depending on where it's put.
  • Clean P2 would have a panel block with smaller panels pulled away.
  • BTS would sport some sort of "bottom-less" hole? With windows, perhaps? Art Therapy ditto.

you see this in chamber 4 a strip that looks beyond the testing area capture 16 also in portal prelude capture 27 and a square variant capture 28

It's not a strip really, it's more like cutout tiles - or an edge. The floor is a pit, with a panel placed on top.

the reason i wanted it to be a strip is so it can be placed on walls and ceiling but you can't do that with cutout tiles

This suggestion is very mixed up and confusing, if you want a Portal 1 Light Strip feel free to open a post for it.

LautaroL20 avatar Sep 23 '17 14:09 LautaroL20

how is it mixed and confusing? all i said was i didn't want it to be a cutout tile because you can't place them on walls all i wanted was something to look outside the testing track in the form of a strip and a square variant

Milkman68 avatar Sep 23 '17 17:09 Milkman68

This would go for all styles, or only for the P1?

LautaroL20 avatar Sep 23 '17 18:09 LautaroL20

I'd imagine that something like this would take the form of a new item, and thus would logically have some equivalent for every style?

@Endermage77 - That sounds interesting, ill re-open this and add your idea to the post.

for portal 1 on walls that are below a floor if applied will show a flurry of pistons that are holding up the floor like in rexura maybe panels in clean? i don't know about old aperture capture 29

Milkman68 avatar Sep 24 '17 00:09 Milkman68

That's entirely unrelated.

TeamSpen210 avatar Sep 24 '17 01:09 TeamSpen210

how?

Milkman68 avatar Sep 24 '17 01:09 Milkman68

Soo you just want some fancy gunk under the floor if the-- --What would we name this? Cutaway Strip? Sure, why not-- -- if you put the things on the walls directly under the floor? I could imagine somebody putting these all over the sides of a platform to make it look like a scaffolding...

Endermage77 avatar Sep 24 '17 02:09 Endermage77

That would indeed call for another kind of item entirely, as the thing we're going with so far is basically a skybox hole.

Endermage77 avatar Sep 24 '17 02:09 Endermage77

should i create another issue for a scaffolding tile?

Milkman68 avatar Sep 24 '17 03:09 Milkman68

This won't be a skybox hole, in Clean I'd probably just use grating directly on the floor.

TeamSpen210 avatar Sep 24 '17 04:09 TeamSpen210

will it be in the next pre release?

Milkman68 avatar Sep 24 '17 07:09 Milkman68

No.

TeamSpen210 avatar Sep 24 '17 09:09 TeamSpen210

is there any way i can make this item myself and then port it to bee2?

Milkman68 avatar Sep 24 '17 16:09 Milkman68

Not really, it'd require lots of compile changes.

TeamSpen210 avatar Sep 24 '17 22:09 TeamSpen210

Nope. That would probably cause lag, also require lots of changes so every tile had pistons

saismeesaimonsaimes avatar Sep 24 '17 22:09 saismeesaimonsaimes

no it will only cutout one block and the pistons would not be functional i would personality add an option to make it cutout two or three blocks but this is not possible. using this you can create 1x1 pistons as seen in the picture with something on top a button or something if you put this item only on one side of the block and not all sides there will be a thin wall on the side you didn't put it on and the side you did it will only be a grating so you can see the piston capture 30 you can also create multiple pistons if you put it on all sides of let's say a 2x3 block here's an example capture 31 on flat surfaces it will just show piping and an orange glow capture 28

Milkman68 avatar Sep 25 '17 03:09 Milkman68

Could maybe make this an auto decoration which generates in small pits like that
