Positronic Energy Field
A purple fizzler-type field, with an erratic and twitchy pattern. Same color as the Positronic Energy Orb (wonder why?) except desaturated. Gradually gets more and more vibrant as a pellet approaches. Destroys any pellets that try to go through it. The field is a toned down version of the Orb and thus players, cubes, turrets, etc. can safely go through it. Would not remove portals when walking through it. Not sure if portal shots would be blocked.
It'd probably make sense to make it slowly hurt players and fizzle cubes, like the original orbs. Portals would be unaffected though.
i thought i made a suggestion for this...?
You made a suggestion for a fizzler that blocks pellets, which I interpret as bouncing them, but this one calls for a fizzler that outright destroys pellets. See #2091 for your own suggestion regarding this.
If we do still want to implement this, I discovered that it's possible to manually control the fizzler vortex effects using material_modify_controls. That could be combined with some VScript to make the field glow when pellets are near. Though implementing that might require some compiler modifications, not sure.
I know this is an old-(ish) issue, but this would be really useful. I've always needed a fizzler like this; I think this is a great idea, and really like it, opening the door for a ton of new puzzles, as well as it's ability to destroy cubes but let portals though!
So as an overview, it would allow portals and not clear them when you walk though. It would gradually hurt players when they stand in it, and would not block anything else (other than destroying pellets and fizzling cubes) It would gradually get more vibrant and the twitchy pattern of the field would get faster as the pellet approaches. And when the pellet is destroyed, it would make purple bolts around it just like the Positronic Orb, right?
In my head, I imagine it's emmitters would have the the warning symbol, like the laserfield's emmitter, but purple— something like this: (but not Minecraft-styled; Blockbench is the only 3D modeling software I know how to use)
Sorry, I just really like this idea. It would be so useful to have! And not just because of the fact that it destroyed pellets!
