Colored Lights
These would be variants of the strip and square lights that allow mappers to choose between 8 different colors. The coloring is not meant to replace the cool and warm lighting, nor should it include those options. Rather, these are colored lights to be used for aesthetic effect.

Maybe use the Item Configuration Pane (#467) to select between 28 different colors customizable with RGB values.
It would also come with a colour palette.
I assume these would have to be different models to look right, so 8 would be a reasonable pool.
This would require the help from a prop modeller then.
Just make the model rainbow-coloured.
It'd use tinted models, so that won't be an issue.
From #1610: 2 - Colorfull Light's i'ts a light but have more colors variations (You can use Portal 2 button hud to control the colors).

I know this has been silent in forever. But perhaps we could use a variant of the Cube Colorizer to change the lights? Place it ontop of a light strip and that would change it?
Perhaps we could just use the Cube Colorizer itself and just call it the Universal Colorizer?
That would actually work This would also allow Colored Buttons! I saw those in a map once to separate Green Cubes vs Red Cubes etc.
I'm not adding coloured buttons for a number of reasons.
Not even for purely aesthetic purposes?
The main problem here is that I think at one point TeamSpen discovered that the Refract shader used by Light Strips isn't compatible with the rendercolor property normally used to set the color of other things like cubes. So the app would need to generate a separate material for each selected color during export, which would be applied in-game. That's not impossible, but it's something that isn't currently done for any other items and so would require some additional code to be added to the app for it to work.
What instead of the refract shader the colored lights just be entirely different than light strips
They might kind of look out of place, but that could work.
Or we could have colored square lights instead, which also don't refract.
