Logic App Standard - how to write to a file share when connected to a VNET

From reading another question on the following site (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/607782/access-on-prem-folder-from-standard-logic-app-not.html), it seems if you are using Logic App Standard with VNET connection and you want to write to an on-prem file share you still need the gateway.

Doesn't seem logical to need a gateway if you have VNET connection. Is there another way to do this?
